Hace unos dias apareció una noticia que me estremeció pues era un sueño secreto mío el desarrollar algo parecido, solo que fue un sueño prematuro, pues inicié conversaciones con un colega médico, para que él, previamente entrenado por mi, realizara la exploración en vivo de los pacientes en la ciudad de La Romana, al este de la isla, y me lo transmitiera, vía Internet, para yo hacer la interpretación aquí en Santo Domingo y remitirle el informe con el diagnostico de vuelta y hacer una especie de telemedicina. Estoy hablando de los primeros años del Internet en República Dominicana, o sea lo que había instalado era Internet Dial-up , lentísimo, es decir, la plataforma tecnológica de banda ancha que se necesitaba para ello no estaba aún instalada. En ese contexto, el colega me sugirió que usáramos el fax, pero la reproducción de imágenes en escala de grises en un fax es malísima, así que desistimos de ello por completo.
Ahora surge una forma de llevar a cabo ese antiguo proyecto, pero tendrá que ser para localidades más aislada que La Romana o similares pues ya esas son ciudades que tiene múltiples servicios modernos de Internet de banda ancha y múltiples servicios de sonografias que cubren perfectamente las necesidades de esas poblaciones.

A few days ago a piece of news appeared that shook me because it was a secret dream of mine to develop something similar, only it was a premature dream. Now there is a way to carry out this old project, but it will have to be for more isolated locations than La Romana or similar because these are cities that have multiple modern broadband Internet services and multiple sonography services that perfectly meet the needs of those populations.
